How many attacks did you have before you worked out that there was nothing wrong with your body? That the cause was not a physical malaise but a product of anxiety and panic.

Panic Attacks

A panic attack happens when we get into a situation that reminds our subconscious mind of something that happened when we were very small and felt very threatened.

Once you understand about the role of the subconscious, you can understand where panic attacks come from.

You probably experienced a childhood trauma, which appeared to you at the time to be life-threatening. This was stored away by the subconscious, and you have probably always felt anxious in certain situations for as long as you can remember.

Panic attacks usually start happening in adulthood after a significant life event such as the death of someone close.

The subconscious is aware of the significant life event, and then is more likely to trigger a panic attack if you encounter some situation reminiscent of the childhood trauma.

Agoraphobia

If panic attacks are not treated, it can develop into agoraphobia.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is the treatment of choice for panic attacks. There's no drugs and therefore no side-effects or dependency issues.

You work at your own pace, and the exercises can be done whenever and wherever you choose. Your progress is clearly visible, and the improvement is as far-reaching and permanent as you want it to be - you are in control!
