Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to make your life better in some way.

Typically, the hypnotherapist thinks of the mind as having two parts: the conscious and the unconscious. If the conscious mind can be likened to the captain of a ship, the unconscious would be the crew.

The captain says, "Full speed ahead", and the guys down in the engine room actually set the speed of the engine.

In a hypnotic trance, the conscious part of the mind is less active and the critical faculty is by-passed.

Once in this state, suggestions and metaphors are transmitted directly to the unconscious in order to make rapid, permanent, and positive changes.

Hypnosis is scientifically proven to be the most effective method of helping you stop smoking (New Scientist, issue 1845).

Often the subconscious is blamed for being the bad guy, and it is often true that we are not aware of what motivates us to do the behaviour that we are not happy about (like smoking, eating too much, panic attacks, getting depressed, etc.).

Qualifications

David Allen MSc PGCD GQHP DHyp MBACP CPNLP CPTLT has a Diploma in Hypnotherapy, and has the General Qualification as a Hypnotherapy Practitioner.

He is a Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a Practitioner in Time-Line Therapy, and has a Post Graduate Clinical Diploma in Transactional Analysis.

He is a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
